Santa Cruz is hard on garage doors. The ocean air rusts springs and hardware, the fog keeps wood doors damp, and many older homes on the Westside, in Seabright and around downtown have detached garages with doors that are decades old. We work on all of it, and there is no extra trip charge to come to Santa Cruz.
Broken springs are the most common call. If you heard a loud bang and the door will not lift, a spring has probably snapped. Do not keep pressing the opener. We replace the springs in pairs and balance the door. See spring repair.
